Dear Barbara,

In June of 2003 our son, Andrew, embarked on the adventure of his lifetime. He was approaching his 17th birthday in July 2003 and had not had but a handful of dry nights in all those years. Although we had attempted to address this issue in various manners, his most complicated medical history seemed to always predispose properly addressing the enuresis. We had even contacted another agency that dealt with sleeping disorders only to be turned away because of Andy's other health issues.

Our first contact with you agency was through Barbara. She was so kind, tender and empathetic. I just knew that even if your agency had to turn us aside, you at least cared about the struggles we were addressing which, of course, won my heart! I cannot think of that conversation even now, nine months later, without crying. Thank you for all that you shared from your heart that day. Thank you for being willing to risk the reputation of your company on our son.

Little did I know that the blessings had just begun. Because of where we live in relation to Michigan, all of our appointments were via phone. Michael most graciously walked into our lives and directed us each step of the way. It was not always easy to approach a 17 year-old with new ideas, but Michael was open, honest, abundantly encouraging and willing to adjust to Andy's needs. Michael was with us through sickness (his own and ours), death in the family (my dad) and even serious medical complications due to medication changes for Andy. In short, Michael went above and beyond being a program counselor and became our friend. I am going to miss our bi-monthly calls more than he can possibly imagine.

Now it is nine months later. I have to remind Andy that it is time to wash his sheets now! After 17 years of washing two and three sets of sheets after each night, you can imagine the impact that alone has on our family as a whole! Andy is so proud that he has graduated from the program. Barbara, this is the very first time he has graduated from anything. I know that sounds like an exaggeration for a 16 year-old but, honestly, he never even graduated from kindergarten. He was just moved on from kindergarten because he got too old and is presently persevering. There is a huge difference between "moving on" and really accomplishing a goal and graduating!

Fondly we thank you,

Ted, Maggie & Andy Knight
